This group is designed for new LGBTQ+ parents. This includes parents of newborns, newly adoptive parents, and newly fostering parents. The goal of the group is to increase parents' access to resources and social support. Topics include: Self-Disclosure and Passing, Stressors and Problem Solving, Networking, Resource Acquisition and Utilization, and Emotional Regulation. This group will consist of six in-person meetings. Each participant will be provided with the book Family Pride: What LGBTQ Families Should Know about Navigating Home, School, and Safety in Their Neighborhoods by Michael Shelton. This text will supplement material covered each week.
This group will meet every Saturday for 6 weeks January 7-February 11.
We are looking for a small group of parents, 6-10 in this cohort.
